Morning classes have their advantages. There are pros and cons and it is hard to determine which is the best decision for you.

Pros of the early morning class:

  1. Smaller class sizes: Generally, most students won’t want to take the early class so it will be a lot smaller, meaning more one on one time and more intimate class discussions.
  2. You’ll be done with class early: If you get your classes done earlier in the day you will be finished earlier in the day. This way you can get homework done before you hang out with your friends. This will leave your evenings more open and will give you more time to do different things at night.
  3. You will be able to work at night: All college students need extra cash. Taking on a job in college can be stressful especially if you work the graveyard shift. If you’re done with class earlier in the day you will be able to go to work earlier and get off earlier.

Cons of the early morning class

  1. You are not motivated to go: Once you get into the groove of college you will have a bigger load on you. This means late nights of studying, extracurriculars, or anything else that you have going on. If you stay up late every night focusing on your obligations, you will be too tired to wake up for your morning class.
  2. Your mornings aren’t free: If you’re a morning person who enjoys getting things done early in the morning you won’t have this opportunity if you’re in class. If you like to workout or go outside earlier in the morning, you won’t be able to do this if you’re stuck inside a classroom in the mornings. Depending on your lifestyle this might not be the best choice for you.
  3. Unmotivated classmates: Nobody likes getting stuck in a group project where the members don’t do their part. If you end up in a group project in your morning class, you are more likely to get stuck with group partners who aren’t motivated to come to class.

College brings you the freedom to decide what you want to be. You also get to decide your schedule, with all this freedom it can get overwhelming for someone who has never dealt with this before. All in all, these decisions are up to you and the type of lifestyle that you live. Do whatever makes sense to you.
